The only reason to avoid 4K is if your editing workflow just cant handle the size of the files or the computation to deal with them. 4K footage can be cropped and still produce HD output. 4K footage can be downscaled to 1080p (HD) for any purpose and will be much higher quality HD than if you had recorded at HD in the first place. You are capturing for now and the future. Your laptop shouldn't dictate the resolution. I apologize for the newbie questions, this is all new to me lol. Since I want to use 1080p on the a6500, I should prob shoot at 1080p on the drone too right? It would be weird to watch a video where one scene thats shot in 4k clarity and the next scene is downgraded to 1080p, right?

If I want to shoot in 1080p, seems like I would need to choose MP4, right?Ĥ) To clarify, if XAVC S 4k is 4k what is XAVC S HD & AVCHD? Are they poorer resolution than 4k? Are they better or worse than 1080p?ĥ) Why do most people on youtube make their highest view quality to be 1080p? Is it because no everyone is going to view it in 4k? Or are these videos potentially shot in 4k then downscaled to 1080p for faster uploading?Ħ) I hear a6500 users use XAVC S HD+120p 100M for 5x slow motion if I changed my mind during a shot and wanted 2x slow-mo even tho I'm shooting in 120 fps is that possible?ħ) My DJI Mavic Pro can shoot in 4k (4096x2160, 3840x2160), 2.7k (2720x1530), & 1080p (1920x1080). What resolution would you recommend? Feel like most people on youtube allow the best quality to be viewed to be 1080p, is that a good spot to start at?Ģ) Do most people buy a6500 for 4k video? Am I missing out by choosing to shoot at 1080p?ģ) Sony a6500 offers XAVC S 4k, XAVC S HD, AVCHD, MP4.

Have a few Q's about file format.ġ) Since I don't have a good laptop for 4k (plan to upgrade once I get better), I want to shoot in a lower resolution. I just got a new Sony a6500 and am new to videography I want to make hiking/traveling & on the go videos (prob lasting <5 min).
